The Montessori Way

“The child who concentrates is immensely happy.”
– Maria Montessori.

School

Welcome to One Love Montessori in Burlingame! We are pleased that you are interested in enrolling your child at our school! We are dedicated to providing your children with the highest standard in Montessori education.

The school is owned and administered by Rita M Enright, who has been in education and administration for over 20 years, and previously managed All Are Friends Montessori school in Foster City.

Program

Our programs are aimed at developing the emotional, intellectual and social independence of your child in a multi-cultural setting. Each child is encouraged to develop at their own rate, benefiting from a high level of individual teacher attention and motivation.

One Love Montessori is a year-round pre-school in Burlingame, where our program is designed to serve children from two years (non-potty trained ok) to six years of age.

Although established in San Mateo since 2021, our director, Miss Rita has been teaching and Director at All Are Friends in Foster City since 1999

Our role as teachers is to help children learn to live in harmony with all people and the environment. Our cultural area includes Geography, Zoology, Botany and Science.

Language is a favorite area in the Montessori classroom. Activities are designed to prepare the child for continued language development.

Sensorial activities help the child develop the ability to classify and sort colors, textures and smells, and to transfer that knowledge to the outside environment.

The activities in the practical life area teach the child to function and process activities in their own environment, such as the use of utensils and dish washing

As the children show an interest, they are exposed to numbers and counting. They are then encouraged to develop mathematical concepts through daily living activities.

Why choose Montessori?

Through exploration and discovery in education, with thoughtful, hands-on materials the Montessori approach embeds creativity and problem solving in each child’s attitude to their own learning. Every day children in the Montessori classroom have opportunities for both independent and cooperative work, giving them exposure to teamwork, leadership and concentrated self-study.

The Montessori classroom recognizes the individual learning styles or paces of each child. Respect for each child as a competent learner, and trusting in the child’s basic desire to learn are foremost in the Montessori curriculum.

Personalized programs of study for each child allows for non-competitive work, comparing only to the child’s previous work. Study that is driven from the child’s own interests, combining subject areas or topics gives the child an awareness of the benefits of each subject.

The balance of freedom and responsibility in the Montessori classroom (freedom within a structure) gives children a focused and disciplined approach to their learning, an approach that will stay with them for life.

The Montessori curriculum focuses on a holistic approach to child education with social and learning environments designed to help children feel good about who they are and the power they have to accomplish or achieve.
